Couples applying for a marriage license will need to complete an application form that asks for key personal details about themselves and their parents. Applicants should be ready to provide the exact date their most recent marriage ended, if applicable, as well as the full birth names of both parents. The information provided will be carefully reviewed to ensure that all details are correct and no errors are made during the application process.
We will manually prepare both a customer copy and the original marriage license using the information provided in step 1.
Next, you will receive informational brochures along with an acknowledgment form to sign, confirming your understanding that you will be issued a confidential marriage license rather than a public one.
If you choose to marry at a later date, we will go over the necessary details for your minister and explain how they should complete their section of the license. It will be the minister's responsibility to ensure the license is promptly submitted to the county recorder's office in Norwalk after the ceremony. However, if you've selected the marriage license and ceremony package, we will take care of everything from there, including shipping, filing, and providing one certified copy (a $17 value).
